Odisha Chief Minister Hands Over Rs 5,000 to 35 Lakh Women Under ‘Subhadra’ Scheme’s Second Phase

The second phase of the “Subhadra” scheme has provided financial assistance to over 35 lakh women, with Rs 1,750 crores transferred directly to their bank accounts. So far, more than 60 lakh women have benefitted from this initiative, receiving a total of Rs 3,000 crores in aid. Over 1.6 crore application forms have been distributed, and more than 1 crore registrations have been completed through over 28,000 General Service Centers and 10,000 My Service Centers. The scheme’s first beneficiary, Umarani Mohanty, and the 1 croreth applicant, Melimani Kujur, were honored in recognition of the success of this program. The Chief Minister emphasized that the happiness and well-being of the women of Odisha are key to the state’s development, vowing to continue offering support in times of need.

Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi today launched the second phase of the first installment of the ‘Subhadra’ scheme at Baripada in Mayurbhanj. In the second phase, today, more than 35 lakh women received written assistance of Rs. 5 thousand as the first installment. A total of Rs 1750 crore was transferred to women’s bank accounts.

Including the first and second phase, a total of more than 60 lakh women have received ‘Subhadra’ assistance so far. A total of 3 thousand crores of assistance was provided. In the program, the Chief Minister provided Subhadra assistance to 10 Subhadra beneficiaries.

Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi first reached Baripada and paid tributes to Pandit Gopbandhu Das by garlanding his statue on the occasion of his birth anniversary. Later addressing the huge public meeting held at Baripada for the programme, the Chief Minister said that the ‘Subhadra’ scheme will bring about a radical change in the lives of the mothers and sisters of Odisha and will empower them economically. It will also increase their social respect.

Stating that this scheme has brought smiles and happiness to the faces of the mothers of Odisha, the Chief Minister said that the smiles and happiness of the mothers will speed up the development of Odisha. He said that ‘Subhadra’ is the biggest women empowerment campaign in Odisha. He said that this scheme would help in empowering the women of the state and lay the foundation of a prosperous Odisha.

The Chief Minister said, “We promise to every woman of Odisha that we will stand with you, in happiness and sorrow, at all times. We have full confidence in your abilities. We will walk with you on your journey of empowerment.”

Stating that Ma’a Subhadra is the symbol of strength and equality in Jagannath culture, the Chief Minister said that women are equal partners in progress and development in the social system like men. He said that when a woman is economically empowered and self-reliant, the social and economic security of the family is strengthened.

Women empowerment means empowerment at social, economic and political level. The greatest example of this is Mrs. Draupadi Murmu, the President of India, who was born on the soil of Mayurbhanj.

The Chief Minister said that the ‘Subhadra’ aid will honor the sacrifices and hard work of mothers and will make the dreams and aspirations of the women of Odisha come true. This scheme is illuminating the faces of the women of our state with a new hope and dream. It has become a new ray of support for the helpless women. He said that Subhadra Yojana will help fulfill the dreams of women who, despite working hard, cannot feed their children well or send them to school.

Informing about the progress of Subhadra Yojana, the Chief Minister said that 1 crore 60 lakh forms have been distributed till date. Out of which more than 1 crore 30 thousand beneficiaries have applied under Subhadra. More than 28 thousand 40 General Seva Centers and more than 10 thousand 55 My Seva Centers are functioning in the state for registration in Subhadra. In the first phase, the first installment of Rs. 5000 was handed over to the beneficiaries above 25 lakhs at the hands of the Hon’ble Prime Minister. Today, more than 35 lakh new beneficiaries were given financial assistance of Rs. 5 lakh in the second phase of the first installment financial assistance program

Till date 5 lakh 78 thousand 178 beneficiaries have registered under Subhadra in Mayurbhanj district, out of which 1 lakh 37 thousand 816 beneficiaries have been paid into their bank accounts.

In this program, the Chief Minister honored Umarani Mohanty of Bhubaneswar Block and Basuaghai Gram Panchayat of Khurda District, the first beneficiary to register under Subhadra Yojana, and Melimamani Kujur of Nuagaon Block and Suruda Village of Sundargarh District, who registered 1 crore beneficiaries. The Chief Minister said that this honor is a beautiful recognition of their enthusiasm and participation in the Subhadra Yojana.

Highlighting the Prime Minister’s visit to Odisha during the launch of the first installment of the Subhadra Yojana, the Chief Minister said that the Prime Minister has great love and respect for Odisha. On the 17th of last month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Bhubaneswar and launched the first installment of the Subhadra Yojana. That day was his birthday. He left all his programs on his birthday and came to Odisha for our mothers, our sisters. This shows how much Modiji loves Odisha. Not only that, he went to Gadkan, a slum in Bhubaneswar, and celebrated his birthday by eating kheer from the mother of a tribal corpse. On this occasion, he also remembered his own mother. This is the proof of Modiji’s love and respect for Odisha.

Expressing that under the leadership of Modiji, the country is moving towards the goal of a developed India today, he said, “You have got a double engine government in Odisha today.” So no one can stop the development of Odisha. The twin engine governments of the central and state governments will drive development at double the speed. For 2036 to 2047, our goal of building a developed Odisha and a developed India must be fulfilled, he asserted.

The Chief Minister highlighted the development programs to be held in the district in the coming days by mentioning the glorious story of Goddess Subhadra’s chariot pulled by women, Mayurbhanj merger, art, culture and tradition of Mayurbhanj.

Deputy Chief Minister Smt. Phamagi Parida joined as one of the guests and said that a 100-day welfare scheme like ‘Subhadra’ was launched in Odisha by the government. There was no such scheme before which involved more than 1 crore women. This ‘Subhadra’ scheme, intended for the prosperity of Odisha’s women, has been adopted by the Mayurbhanj tribal women. He said that ‘Subhadra’ will show a new direction to women’s development and ‘Subhadra’ will be the cornerstone of development.

Shri Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia, Minister of State for Forests, Environment, Labor and Employee Insurance, said, “This is a historic scheme. Women of entire Odisha including Mayurbhanj are very happy for this scheme. Our government is a government that respects women, farmers and the poor.

Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Public Enterprises Dr. Participating in the Krishna Chandra Mahapatra program, he said that our illustrious Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji is doubling India’s development. In our Odisha too, the speed of development will be fast under the double engine government. He appealed to everyone irrespective of party affiliation to make Mayurbhanj a developed district.
